RATINGS OF TASTING TOMATES sense SIÓ
On Sunday 2 October we did a tasting tomatoes in the participatory Feel Zion, in the festival of San Miguel.
We brought them:
- Rose Albesa: tomato rose from medium-large Albesa.
- Clofolluda Besse: tomata semibuida, similar to Montserrat, Josep Vilanova from the Almasselles. Formerly original Area Ports.
- Pink Rañin: tomata kilogram of rose, prospectada Balaguer but from this village near Barbastro
- De pit: Bull thymus tomato chorus, from Cervera
- Pereta Ager: tomata in pear-shaped, empty, kills half lower, from very old and Ager.
The event took part seventy people and they fill these twenty comparative sheet. We give you the results below. Note that the sample is small and not everyone punctuated all varieties. So, the error can be great and should be seen as indicative. We also publish some pictures of Xavi.

Visit the conservatory vine-INRA Vassal
this week, we visited the conservatory of vine varieties INRA Domaine de Vassal to learn about the management and conservation of cabbage·collections. It is the most comprehensive conservation center in the world vine, over 2500 Vitis Vinifera varieties and hundreds of hybrid varieties and rootstocks.
The team of the center showed us the scrupulous work of mechanics perfected since its inception in the late nineteenth century. It was especially interesting to see the logic with which plants and organize file system and monitoring of all information. They could also take note of the different techniques used by vegetative propagation.
The center of distilled Vassal·the rigor and professionalism combined with a sharp public vocation and networking with any related experience. They can learn a lot.

Spring Saturday morning at the entrance of a market that has 800 years. Today we found very early in the Plaza del Mercadal de Balaguer to launch the publicity campaign of the first five varieties grown in Walnut who have joined the catalog of varieties and breeds endangered of Slow Food International.
CULTURES FOUND has published a set of postcards information these varieties and others present in the region destacablement. The postcards contain the image data and the main cultural, agronomic, historical and organoleptic characteristics of the variety or race. Aimed mainly farmers, restaurants and consumers.
Today was beginning to spread them and we have helped the three restaurants of the region recently described the distinctive Km0 awarded by Slow Food. A project proposal, responsible for cooking establishments have offered some snack based on traditional varieties:
· Merced Merced Roads House Restaurant (Fontdepou) has taken a 'mashed Walnut llucià with broccoli and bean Gerb’ and 'onion jam Coll de Nargó'.
· Henry miles from the Dien Restaurant (Vallfogona de Balaguer) has developed an artichoke cream with hazelnut oil and Sarris ‘ and 'paved beans Gerb’
· Ramon Gaspà Bridges Restaurant (bridges) presented in a table 'Hake with broccoli bacon’ and 'White bread with oil of almond and chocolate'.
Restaurants Guide Km0 2012, will go on sale around St. George, includes those establishments that incorporate local foods, and organic varieties and breeds recovery of the Ark of Taste.
